Finally...I am pleased to Announce the Grand Opening of a Brand NEW Auction Site for Doll Artists!!!!
Posted by: Danna McDaniel 05/28/2008
At long last, after months of my nose to the grindstone, I am proud to present to you Magnolia Lane: Premier Auction House and Doll Artist Community. We have changed the name from OOAK Street to be more inclusive to the entire doll community.
Grand Opening is scheduled for June 1 and our first featured artist is the talented Jessica Schenk! It will take a community-backed effort to break away from Ebay and I have done my best to try and design a site that is attractive, user-friendly and promotes doll artists, doll clothing designers, doll companies and dollmaking supply vendors in many different ways.
There is free basic listing and a low FVF of 2.5%. To get the site off the ground I have also put in place two separate Grand Opening specials that give further savings. Trades are allowed as are Request For Quote listings. I have also installed a Pulse Page for the site and have made it so you can continue to shop while browsing the rest of the site through the Featured Gallery Listings.
Hope you will join us at our Grand Opening and make Ebay a thing of the past!
Best Regards, Danna McDaniel
Artists Sought for Home Shopping Network- Europe
Posted by: Phil Cuthbert 04/11/2008
Beverly Warren wrote me to let me know that she has recently received a contract for vinyl dolls for Home Shopping Network in Europe. Our congrats go out to her for this! She was also nice enough to let me know that her contact is looking for additional artists for representation.
She wanted me to pass this on to any interested artist. Please contact me and I will pass the information on to you, rather than openly post here.
For those who still want to exhibit at EXPO in DC this August but didn't get in on the PDMAG group space, there is still shared space available at the OOAKGuild.com's booth.
Exhibitors can place up to 6 dolls in the shared booth for a cost of $100. We need 10 more exhibitors to get the second set of booths. Booths are going fast, so don't delay. Payment is needed by May 1st.
If you're interested, contact Debbie at daydreamerdebbie3d@comcast.net.

New Auction site venue for Doll artists soon to open!!
Posted by: Danna McDaniel 04/01/2008
I am currently designing an auction site for doll artists that will be an affordable alternative to Ebay. I have taken great care in researching how to make a successful niche auction site. I have the good fortune in that my husband has been a computer programmer for 15 years and he knows how to insure the site will be fully functional and have the optimum security for the website's patrons from day 1. The downfall of many niche auction sites are that they are put up too quickly without the testing that is necessary to make sure their hosting system is sufficient enough to handle increased traffic to the site. One fatal flaw like this can in fact doom a site from the beginning. I am convinced that there is definitely a need for this type of affordable selling venue for all OOAK artists.
My plan is to promote doll artists on the site though showcases, a featured monthly artist, tutorials and workshops and forums and chat. The site will be easy to navigate, pleasant to the eye and have an upscale feel to it. And even more importantly very low fees. In addition, I plan on keeping the focus of the site on the doll artist and will not be including other arts and crafts as these will only serve to clutter the site which turns potential buyers off. I also have a plan for appropriate marketing and advertising as well as huge incentives for patrons of the site to list and buy. Our tenative opening date is to be May 1st, but this could vary slightly as I will not open the site before it is fully tested. So start stocking up now for the month of May where hopefully we can make the dream of being Ebay-free a reality for the doll artist!! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at dannamcdaniel@gmail.com. I plan on updating shortly with the finalized plans of the site as well as the listing incentives so you can prepare in advance. Best Regards, Danna McDaniel
